Delete your AuthorPing account

You can delete your account and the information saved with it at any time.

In the app (quickest)

Open AuthorPing, go to the You tab, tap Account, then Delete account. This takes effect straight away.

Without the app

Email hello@authorping.com from the email address you use to sign in, with the subject "Delete my account". We delete the account within 7 days and reply to confirm. We only act on requests sent from the account's own address, so nobody else can delete your account.

What is deleted

• Your email address and the account itself.
• Everything saved to the account on every phone you signed in on: the series, authors and books you follow, your Read and To read shelves, your alert settings, the record of notifications we sent you, feedback you sent from the app, and your "show fewer like this" answers.

What is kept, and for how long

• Backups: copies of our database can hold your information for up to about two weeks after deletion, until they are replaced. They are not used for anything else.
• Abuse limits: a record of sign-in attempts naming your email address is removed with the account; IP-address limits are deleted automatically within about two days.

Delete your lists but keep your account

You can delete the books and series you have saved without deleting your account. Open AuthorPing, go to Settings, scroll to Delete your lists, tick the lists you want to clear (Following, To read and Read), type DELETE and confirm.

• What is deleted: everything on the lists you ticked, straight away. If you are signed in, those lists are cleared from your account too, on every phone.
• What is kept: your account, your email address, your alert settings, your list of past notifications, any Premium subscription, and any list you did not tick.

No account?

If you never created an account, nothing is stored against your name or email. You can clear your lists the same way, in Settings → Delete your lists. Uninstalling the app removes everything kept on the phone itself.
